WORKSHOP: Modelling debris flows and flash floods
Join us for a two-day interactive in-person workshop on debris flows and floods and meet experts from the University of Bristol (UK).
This in-person workshop aims to train African talent in debris flow and flash flood modeling. It will be led by Professor Andrew Hogg and Dr. Mark Woodhouse from the University of Bristol. This event is sponsored by the University of Bristol and organized by the East African Institute for Fundamental Research (EAIFR) at the University of Rwanda (UR).
Topics that will be covered include:
◉ Free–to–use web model, LaharFlow
◉ Simulate Earth –surface flows on
topography
◉ Model erosion and deposition
◉ Lectures on theory and applications
◉ Hands–on activities
◉ Create maps with model results in QGIS

Prerequisite: You will need to bring your laptop. We strongly recommend that participants install QGIS if they haven't already; this software is free and open-source.
