ICTP-EAIFR in partnership with ICTP-PWF will be hosting an Introduction to Computational Materials Science event for final year undergraduate and graduate students in Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering in Rwanda.

The East African Institute for Fundamental Research (EAIFR) and the International Center of Theoretical Physics-Physics Without Frontiers program (ICTP-PWF) is organizing a week long Introduction to Computational Materials Science event on the University of Rwanda campus.

Progress in Materials Science is influencing our lives in many areas. Research and development in this field has produced fertilizers, biofuels, hydrogen for fuel and electricity, petrochemicals, medicines, methods for reducing environmental pollution and created the basis of the modern computing world. Physics Without Frontiers invites applications from final-year undergraduate and graduate students with physics, chemistry or mechanical engineering backgrounds to this training. The school will introduce computational materials science and its applications through lectures on theoretical fundamentals, hands- on sessions and scientific discussions.

Organisers:

  • Omololu Akin-Ojo (EAIFR, University of Rwanda)
  • Natasa Stojic (ICTP)

Speakers:

  • N. Stojic (ICTP, Italy)
  • M. Stella (ICTP, Italy)
  • I. Girotto (ICTP, Italy)
  • S. Narasimhan (JNCASR, India)
  • U. Morzan (ICTP, Italy)
  • N. Seriani (ICTP, Italy)
  • O. Akin-Ojo (EAIFR, University of Rwanda)
