Prof. Manasse MBONYE, President of the Rwandan Academy of Sciences (RAS) will be giving a seminar discussing the acceleration/expansion of the Universe and its dynamics. It will be interesting to think and discuss about the possible origin, behavior, and fate of the Universe.

Abstract

Theoretical Cosmology is going through exciting periods with remarkable success interpreting observations, with much more to interpret and lots to predict. The latter task includes predicting the current cosmic acceleration, linking it to previous cosmic eras, predicting future cosmic dynamics and addressing several unexplained observations like the dimensionless age synchronicity. In this talk, we present an alternative approach that treats these issues. The approach introduces 2 ingredients in Friedman cosmology. First that space has a non-trivial physical structure, and plays a more-than-passive role in cosmic dynamics. Second that the Universe will suitably generate matter-energy of net gravitational charge of either signature. This leads to a universe continuously searching for an idealized dynamic equilibrium state, identified by a specific constant expansion-rate path. Here, cosmic dynamics always seeks to restore this equilibrium state against any free matter-energy perturbations by generating matter energy of gravitational charge opposing the perturbations. We set up the creation framework and determine the cosmic scale factor evolution a(t). The result is a universe oscillating about its idealized dynamic equilibrium, having demonstrably emerged from a non-singular state, preceded by a non-exponential acceleration. The approach recovers all known cosmic evolutionary epochs and, importantly, predicts future cosmic evolution. Based only on current estimates of cosmic acceleration-commencement look-back time we calculated the Universe's age t0, Hubble constant H0 and density parameters Ω- and Ω+. Results agree with observations. The approach has 2 free parameters: the cosmic cycle period and the initial conditions phase angle and a dependent synchronous time-scale parameter tsy, all of which we constrain. We address the synchronicity problem. Finally, we show the Universe here behaves as a classical time crystal. The findings suggest cosmic dynamics is self-regulating and predictable.
