Open Position in Geophysics at ICTP-EAIFR. Extended Deadline

06 Feb 2024

The original deadline has been extended to April 8th, 2024.

The ICTP-EAIFR is an ICTP Partner Institute with a UNESCO Category 2 status based in Kigali at the University of Rwanda (UR). The institute was created in 2018 with a view to position itself as a leading research and training institute in Eastern Africa in the broad area of theoretical and applied physics. The institute currently runs a vibrant post-graduate program consisting of PhD students and students enrolled in a 2-year Master program in Physics. Since its inception, ICTP-EAIFR has hosted visiting scientists from around the globe and run numerous workshops and schools.

Today, the Institute is opening a position (senior lecturer or associate professor) in Geophysics. We are looking for someone who will undertake research in seismology and related fields such as geodesy and tectonics. We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong theoretical background in any sub-field of seismology (including and not limited to: physics and mechanics of earthquakes, ground motion seismology, seismic tomography and volcano-seismology). We welcome applicants with experience in method development and/or new data collection methods and analysis techniques.

This post is a permanent position (renewable by the University of Rwanda every three years). All ICTP-EAIFR faculty members are automatically offered an ICTP Associateship which supports research visits to the ICTP.
